 It was  Christmas time
 There I stood  another line
 Trying to buy  last gift or two

  right in front of me
 Was a little boy  anxiously

  pair of shoes
 
  his clothes were worn and old
 He was dirty from head  toe
 And when it  his time to pay

 Could  hurry, sir?
 Daddy says  not much time
 You see, she's  sick for quite a while

 They counted pennies for what  like years
 And the cashier said, “Son,  not enough here.”
 He  his pockets franticly
  he turned and he looked at me
 He said, “Momma made  good at our house
 though most years she  did without.
 Tell me, sir, what am  gonna do?
 Somehow  got to buy her these Christmas shoes.”
 
 So I laid  money down
 I just had to  him out
 And I'll never 
 The look  his face
 When he said, “Momma's  look so great.”
 
 “Sir,  wanna buy these shoes for my momma, please
 It's Christmas Eve and  shoes are just her size
 Could you  sir?
 Daddy says there's  much time
 You see, she's been sick for quite a 
 And I know these shoes will make her 
 And  want her to look beautiful
 If  meets Jesus tonight.”
 
 I knew I’d caught  glimpse of heaven’s love as he thanked me and ran out.
 I knew that God had sent that  boy to remind me
 What  is all about
 
 “Sir, I wanna buy these  for my momma, please
 It's Christmas  and these shoes are just her size
 Could you  sir?
 Daddy says  not much time
 You see,  been sick for quite a while
 And I know these shoes will  her smile
